“Il carrello vuoto del venerdì: quando la spesa diventa protesta”
C’era una volta il carrello della spesa. Sempre pieno, sempre pronto a ingoiare pane, latte e biscotti. Poi è arrivato un venerdì di gennaio 2025, e in Croazia quei carrelli sono rimasti fermi. Silenziosi, vuoti.
Non è stato un errore di consegne o un blackout dei frigoriferi: è stata scelta.
La scelta di un popolo stanco di vedere i prezzi salire come mongolfiere senza ritorno.
Le cause
A fine 2024, la Croazia si è ritrovata con l’inflazione più alta dell’intera Eurozona. Nei supermercati il pane sembrava oro, il latte un lusso. Così, l’associazione di consumatori “Halo, ispektore” ha lanciato un appello semplice e radicale:
👉 “Non fate la spesa il venerdì. Lasciate i carrelli vuoti. Fate sentire il silenzio della vostra protesta.”
E il silenzio è diventato rumore.
Le modalità
Il boicottaggio è stato organizzato interamente sui social network. Post, hashtag, video. In poche settimane, la protesta ha preso piede come un incendio: prima a Zagabria, poi in Bosnia-Erzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro.
Città dopo città, il venerdì non era più giorno di spesa ma di resistenza.
Le conseguenze
Le catene di supermercati hanno tremato: in certi punti vendita le vendite sono crollate del 53% in un solo giorno (Balcani Caucaso, 2025; Euronews, 2025). Un colpo secco che nessuna promozione poteva mascherare.
Il governo croato, sotto pressione popolare, ha reagito bloccando i prezzi di 70 prodotti essenziali: pane, latte, olio, zucchero. Ma il messaggio era già arrivato:
✊ “Quando il popolo si sveglia, i potenti tremano.”
Oltre i confini
Questa non è solo una storia balcanica. È un campanello d’allarme per tutta l’Europa.
Il boicottaggio non è stato violento, non ha spaccato vetrine: ha semplicemente spostato il potere. Dalle multinazionali… ai consumatori.
Perché sì, la paura funziona meglio delle promesse elettorali. E un carrello vuoto pesa più di mille comizi.
