Bruxelles, dicembre 2025.
Non è una metafora: trattori in fila, strade bloccate, letame e uova contro i palazzi delle istituzioni europee.
Circa 10.000 agricoltori e oltre 1.000 trattori hanno paralizzato il quartiere europeo il 18 dicembre, proprio mentre era in corso il Consiglio Europeo.
Non una protesta folkloristica, non una sceneggiata agricola.
È una frattura politica ed economica che riguarda chi produce il cibo e chi decide le regole del commercio.
E, come spesso accade, il consumatore lo scoprirà più tardi. Allo scaffale.
Perché protestano: tre motivi, un’unica sensazione
1. L’accordo UE–Mercosur: la miccia vera
Il punto più esplosivo è il trattato di libero scambio tra Unione Europea e Mercosur (Brasile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay), che Bruxelles vuole chiudere dopo oltre vent’anni di negoziati.
Perché gli agricoltori francesi dicono NO?
- Temono l’arrivo massiccio di carne bovina, zucchero e pollame a prezzi più bassi
- Denunciano concorrenza sleale, perché quei prodotti:
- possono usare pesticidi vietati in UE
- rispettano standard ambientali e di benessere animale molto meno stringenti
Da qui la richiesta delle “clausole specchio”:
se un prodotto non è coltivato con le stesse regole europee, non dovrebbe entrare nel mercato europeo.
Un’idea semplice. Ma molto scomoda per il commercio globale.
2. Tagli alla PAC: meno soldi, più obblighi
Secondo grande fronte: la Politica Agricola Comune (PAC).
Nel dibattito sul bilancio UE 2028–2034 circolano ipotesi di tagli fino a 90 miliardi di euro ai fondi agricoli complessivi.
Non solo: la Commissione valuta un “super-fondo” unico, dove l’agricoltura dovrebbe competere con:
- difesa
- industria
- transizione tecnologica
Tradotto:
meno autonomia finanziaria per l’agricoltura, più concorrenza interna per risorse già ridotte.
3. Burocrazia e Green Deal: il campo non è un ufficio
Terzo nodo, meno mediatico ma quotidiano:
norme ambientali sempre più complesse, costi in aumento e margini che si assottigliano.
Gli agricoltori non contestano la transizione ecologica in sé, ma il modo:
- più obblighi
- più carte
- più controlli
- meno redditività
Con energia, fertilizzanti e carburanti ancora costosi, molte aziende agricole denunciano una realtà semplice:
lavorare di più, guadagnando meno.
Cosa sta succedendo ora a Bruxelles
La protesta è degenerata in scontri violenti:
- idranti
- gas lacrimogeni
- lanci di petardi, uova e letame
Politicamente, la Francia gioca una partita delicata.
Il presidente Macron sta cercando di costruire una minoranza di blocco per fermare l’accordo Mercosur così com’è. Ma la pressione della Commissione Europea per chiudere il patto è fortissima.
Perché?
Perché l’accordo non riguarda solo il cibo.
E ora la domanda che interessa davvero: cosa succede ai prezzi in Italia?
Nel breve periodo, non aspettarti crolli immediati dei prezzi.
Nel medio periodo, però, gli effetti possono essere molto concreti.
Possibili scenari nei prossimi mesi:
- Carne bovina e pollame:
pressione al ribasso sui prezzi all’ingrosso, soprattutto se le importazioni aumentano - Prodotti europei:
rischio di compressione dei margini per gli allevatori italiani - Effetto paradosso:
prezzi al consumo non sempre più bassi, ma qualità e reddito agricolo sotto pressione
In altre parole:
il risparmio, se arriva, non è garantito.
Il costo sociale, invece, è certo.

È una scelta precisa: l’obiettivo di questa rubrica è arrivare nella testa del consumatore medio, e per farlo è necessario tradurre dal legalese, dal politichese e soprattutto dal chimichese.
L’elementarità non è semplificazione superficiale, ma uno strumento per rendere leggibili relazioni complesse senza distorcerle.
Se continuiamo a usare linguaggi opachi, continueremo a non comprendere la realtà che ci circonda. Ed è proprio su questa opacità che si fonda il gioco.
